Taco Burgers

Taco Burgers

Love the taste of tacos and would love to grill them, too?  Hate how the crumbles of taco meat just keep falling through the grates?  I'm joking, of course, but you CAN get the flavor of grilled tacos by turning them into burgers!  Layer on the cheese and let it melt before adding your usual taco fillings right onto the bun.

Or, instead of a bun, how about making your burgers into flattened cylinders (think flat hog dog shape) and, once they're grilled, tucking them into corn or flour tortillas and piling on the guac, shredded lettuce, salsa and the rest of your fave taco toppings?

Here's the very simple recipe:

  • 1 pound 80% lean hamburger
  • 1/4 of a medium onion, finely minced
  • 1 packet of your favorite taco seasoning mix - I like SPICY...make yours the heat you like
Lightly mix all the ingredients.  Shape into 4 burgers or flattened cylinders and grill to your desired doneness.  At the end, layer on your favorite cheese - American, pepperjack, cheddar - and when the cheese is melted you're ready to rock.  Add a side of refried beans!  Ole!
